Quality Homes builds houses at its Kenilworth site just north of Guelph, Ontario. Recognizing a growing market — seniors and people with disabilities — the builder designed a series of features specifically for customers with disabilities and seniors who want to live independently in their own homes. These features — called the Liberty Series — allow barrier-free living and can be incorporated into any Quality Homes floor plan.
In designing these features, Quality Homes worked with consultants, suppliers and buyers with disabilities. For example, they worked with Moen to create custom-made shower fixtures. They found another supplier who provides height adjustable kitchen cabinets for people who use wheelchairs.
Other accessibility features in the series include wheel-in showers, automatic door openers, lower light switches, higher receptacles, wider doorways and passageways, elevators and lifts.
