The ministry funds community agencies to provide different residential accommodations that balance people's needs with their wishes. These residential supports for people with a developmental disability include:

  • group homes and other supported living arrangements.
  • specialized residences for people with a developmental disability who have additional needs, like a mental illness.
  • family homes through the Familyhome program.

People with a developmental disability and their families work with agencies to find the kind of residential accommodation that works best for them.

To find out about residential options and service availability for people with a developmental disability in your community, please contact the Ministry of Community and Social Services regional office nearest you.

We know that more people still need support, and we will continue to do more to improve services for people with a developmental disability.
